821 Book Discussions: Humans of New York
The 821 Project's book discussions expose the local community to social justice and multicultural perspectives through literature.
September’s book selection will be “Humans of New York”, a photo collection book that contains hundreds of stories accompanying photos of New York’s multicultural and complex residents.
At our book discussion, we will discuss the connections that New York has with south Louisiana cities like Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and the importance of embracing the demographic and cultural complexity that exists in our community. We will also focus on how increasing gentrification and economic inequality are threatening the character and culture of American cities.
Our discussion will be held on Monday, September 18th at the Eden Park Branch Library from 6:00-7:30 PM.
